History

Peach Gully was originally the holding paddock for the massive Waimarama Station, which encompassed Waimarama, the Te Apiti Valley, a good part of the Maraetotara Plateau, and spread over to, and included, Waipuka on the west side of Ocean Beach.

The name Peach Gully was given because of the white-fleshed peach trees planted by early settlers. When Waimarama Station was subdivided in 1912, Peach Gully was sold to a Mr John Barker.

He built a two storied homestead for his wife, six children and servants. Other buildings on the property included a wash house, garage and two horse stables, a harness-tack room and hay bale loft, along with a milking shed and a cow bail.

Peach cottage (or Whare as it was called) was originally used by the gardener, and was located in the paddock behind the stables.

Expectations exceeded. 1st class, superb. Thank you for your hospitality. Highly recommended
